Mercury Fin Boater's World is your Sacrificial Anode Center. We want to make sure engine troubles don't keep you from having fun on the water! No matter where you choose to do your boating, we have all the right products to help take care of your boat. Read this quick overview on how to protect you engine from corrosion! What causes corrosion? Seawater is a good conductor and freshwater a bad conductor, so corrosion is worse in seawater. Generally, corrosion rates increase in proportion to the amount of oxygen in the water. However, cracks and crevices, which are areas starved of oxygen, become anodic and corrode also. Higher temperature increases corrosion rates - doubling for every 30 degrees C (55 degrees F). There are various types of microorganisms that can contribute to corrosion, either by removing protection or causing a corrosive environment. Why do I need anodes? You need anodes on your engine because when two different metals are in contact, electrons will flow from the more negatively charged metal (anode) to the more positive metal (cathode). If you want to protect both types of metal from corrosion, you must add a third metal such as zinc, although magnesium and aluminum are also used. This active metal becomes the anode for both metals. The zinc or aluminum sacrifices itself to protect the other two metals, hence the term "sacrificial anode".Do's and Don'tsDO change your anode when they are 50 percent corroded DO make sure they make good electrical contact - remove paint and clean the mounting surface.DO protect trim tabs individually (do not bond). Although they are usually made from stainless steel they can still corrode and need sacrificial anodes.DO be sure to use new fasteners on sterndrives - even stainless bolts fail as a result of corrosion.DO keep a sterndrive immersed in the water so that the anodes can work. DON'T use zinc anodes on aluminum outdrivesDON'T paint anodes. They will not work to their full potential!DON'T mix anode types - aluminum anodes will try to protect zinc.DON'T use magnesium anodes on outdrives in salt or brackish water as it will "overprotect" the aluminum.

High-performance fuel injected engines require ultimate fuel filtration, separation of water from the fuel supply and maximum fuel flow. Sierra s new filter elements deliver all three of these critical performance factors. 7900-Series 10 micron filters eliminate harmful contaminants at over 90% efficiency, while removing over 99% of emulsified water. They re engineered for today s sterndrives and inboards, along with 2-cycle and 4-cycle outboards. Today s ethanol-blended fuels increase the chances of water in fuel tanks, resulting in premature wear, poor performance and component damage. Contaminants of over 10 micron size also can cause severe damage with the close tolerances of today s fuel pumps and injectors. That is why a high efficiency water separating filter is so important. Sierra 10 micron filters were independently tested to JIS, SAE J1839/J905 and ISO 4548-12 standards. Promotes fuel filtration, separation of water from fuel supply and maximum fuel flow Eliminates harmful contaminants at over 90% efficiency with 10 micron filtration; removes over 99% of emulsified water

Spin-On Filter w Metal Bowl

Spin-On Filter w/ Metal Bowl Water is your engine's number 1 enemy - no matter how carefully fuel is handled, water and other contaminants can find their way into it. Protect your engine with a Racor fuel/water separator. Diesel engine fuel systems recirculate fuel, actually "creating" water when warm fuel returns to a cold tank. Using a fuel filter/water separator ensures that fuel arrives at your engine clean and water-free. Most stock filters only filter particles from the fuel, allowing water to pass through your fuel system, causing rust and corrosion. Using a patented "Aquabloc" element, Racor fuel filters remove emulsified water and particles down to two microns in size. Fittings not included. For UL and USCG accepted filter/separators, call our Engine Parts Specialists at 800-528-4828.

Gasoline Fuel Filter/Water Separators Spin-On Series with Racor s famous Aquabloc filter media repels water into the bottom of the drain bowl and ensures virtually 100% removal of water and solid contaminants. Filters come in different sizes for gasoline engines and any rate of fuel flow. Racor units are designed for use on the suction side of pump All filters feature a die-cast aluminum head which is anodized and painted See-thru bowls allow easy visual inspection for water; metal bowls are recommended for use in areas of high heat and are required by the US Coast Guard on gas inboards and commercial vessels. Standard filter size is 2 microns; 10- and 30-micron sizes available by Special Order Inlet/outlet ports are 1/4" NPT on all units except the 660 series 660 series ports are 3/8" NPT Standard pipe-to-hose barbs are used for installation Replacement Gasoline Filter/Separators - Direct replacement for factory filters Clear plastic see-thru bowl is for outboard installations only Includes filter element and bowl, but not mounting head.
